How it got made
The brief, the room, the frame.
I shot posters for Theatre Network while Bradley Moss was artistic director, one show at a time, each with its own look. In the 2019/20 season that meant Mat Hulshof for Bed and Breakfast, and Robert Benz for The Society for the Destitute Presents Titus Bouffonius.
The Titus frames are some of my favourites, all on black. One frame, his face in bouffon whiteface, became the poster. In another he’s screaming, with red dripping through the frame. That one’s a drag shutter: strobe and continuous light in the same exposure, so the flash freezes him and the continuous light smears.
