How it got made

The brief, the room, the frame.

In September 2017 I took on Snaptember, a challenge some headshot photographers had started: a new headshot every day of the month. To push myself, I skipped friends and existing clients and reached out to people I didn’t really know but had always admired and wanted to photograph. Ryan Jespersen was one of them. He said yes, came by the studio on the 27th, and we had a great time.

Years later, when he was building Real Talk as his own independent show, he asked if he could use that portrait as its face. It’s still the lead image today.
