How it got made
The brief, the room, the frame.
Jonathan Holeton at MindWave Studios came to me for PotHoles, a feature they were making, and he knew exactly what he wanted: “that dexter looking type image with that blue backdrop.” He meant one of my own self-portraits, a study after Jill Greenberg’s portrait of Michael C. Hall as Dexter. A personal project I’d shot alone in my studio ended up being the brief.
We shot four of the cast on blue with haze, Howie Miller, Tracy Bone, Jerrald Chung and Jonathan himself, on a Sunday in August 2020.
