The story
Talking Retail, Offices, Investment, Industrial and Multi-Family
The 2025 / 26 SQFT carried five market reports, each an interview about one part of Edmonton’s commercial real estate. John Shamey, a partner at Cushman & Wakefield Edmonton, covers retail, where demand is running ahead of supply; Fahad Shaikh of Colliers covers offices, with demand concentrated in the suburbs; and Adam Kilburn of JLL covers investment, arguing that affordability is bringing capital back. Bronwyn Scrivens, also of JLL, covers an industrial market tied to manufacturing and northern resource work, and Ian Newman of Cushman & Wakefield covers multi-family rentals, buoyed by migration and the absence of rent control.

How it got made
The brief, the room, the frame.
BOMA Edmonton wanted more of an editorial feel for its five market reports, something with the punch of a Top 40 Under 40. Cam, the art director, sent black-and-white references, and we worked from there. I knew these would run as full pages, so I wanted plenty of room around each broker, and every one of them came in dressed well from top to bottom, shoes and all. We shot close and wide, and most of what ran is full length on white.
I shot colour too, just in case, but told the brokers there was a ninety percent chance they’d run black and white. Cam waited until the last of the five had been through the studio before picking, so she could balance the poses across all of them.
